Inter-Parliamentary Union

The Inter-Parliamentary Union was established in 1889. It is the focal point for worldwide parliamentary dialogue, working for peace and cooperation among peoples, and for the firm establishment of democracy. The IPU also fosters coordination and exchange of experience among the parliaments and parliamentarians of all countries, strengthening institutions and contributing to the defense and promotion of human rights. The IPU has been a partner of the UN for many years, and the two organizations share values and have common goals. The IPU and Nepal are also linked, as Nepal has been affiliated with the IPU since 1967.
